I Love a Parade - Part 2

I found my missing parade photos!! My camera started a new folder and I wasn't paying attention to what was on my SD card. I happen to take some additional photos yesterday and when I went to get them, guess what I found?! Hip, hip, hooray!

Our Turn is Next

Feeling the Cool (even got a water drop on the lens)

Ahhhhh! Refreshing!

Since it got up into the low 90's today, I would LOVE to go do this part of the parade again.

I Love A Parade!

Our little town of Twisp had their annual Fourth of July parade on Friday. We are definitely small town America!

From the requisite fire trucks to horses and local "floats", there was a little something for everyone to enjoy. The kids especially enjoyed the candy being tossed out but it sure made for a few anxious moments for me.

The best part of the parade for me were the fire trucks. Every 100 feet or so, they'd stop and spray the street in front of the one truck. The kids would rush out to get soaked and even I got a little wet which was fine on a hot summer day. Too bad my camera shut off on me while taking pics. Either my battery died or it timed out waiting for the fire trucks. Its a waterproof camera so the spray wouldn't have done it. I didn't notice that it was off and I was snapping away! Oh well, there's always next year.

Enjoy the parade!

Here Comes the Snow...Plows

Oh, what to do on a Thursday night?

Option #1: Stay in a warm but somewhat boring hotel room, fix dinner and watch TV.

Option #2: Bundle up and drive a few miles to freezing Frazee, Minnesota to watch their 1st Annual Snowplow Parade.

Hmmm....decisions, decisions.

Here Come the Plows!

Big Ones...

...Small Ones...

...And  Baby Ones (sorry for the poor picture quality)

One Plow Even Had the Grinch

There was a great turnout for the parade down Main Avenue in Frazee. Approximately 60 plows participated including ones from the State of Minnesota, Otter Tail and Becker counties, the towns of Frazee, Perham and Detroit Lakes along with many private contractors advertising their snow removal capabilities. Most were decorated with lights and many drivers were tossing candy to the children lined on up the sidewalks.

Scattered up and down the main street were several firepits with nice little fires going to keep the parade watchers warm.

The parade lasted longer than I did. Even with my gloves on, my hands were freezing. I stayed to see about 90% of the plows before they turned around and came back down Main Avenue. I couldn't take the below freezing temps any longer. It was time to head for the warmth of the hotel and a mug of hot cider.

Not sure a snowplow parade was on my bucket list, but I'll check it off any way! Gotta love small town life!!
