TwoFer Tuesday - Sisters

Over the July 4th holiday, my sister and brother-in-law came for a visit to our home in Washington's Methow Valley. We made a picnic lunch and went to Harts Pass. It was a lovely day, perfect for a picnic. We ate near the Pacific Crest Trail not too far from the Canadian border.

Oh, if I were a bit younger or in better physical shape, I would love to hike part of the PCT. For now I will live vicariously through stories like Wild by Cheryl Strayed or Skywalker by Bill Walker.

How Does My Garden Grow?

I am so lucky! The house I am renting in Minnesota has beautiful garden spaces and a very talented landlady with the greenest of thumbs! Now if only the skeeters weren't so bad lately so I could sit outside and enjoy them.

Pedal Faster!

How would you like to try racing in one of these?

Lund Drag Boat

After the Lund Mania fishing tournament, folks gathered in downtown New York Mills for the Second Annual Boatville Drags, the awarding of the tournament prizes and then the parade. I cheered on my office mates in the "boat" races, watched the awards presentation but I skipped the parade. By that time, I was tired and ready to head to my house. I wanted to beat the incoming thunderstorm, too.

Go Fish!

I had the opportunity last Friday to be a spotter in the local walleye fishing tournament called Lund Mania. Fifty teams (all on Lund boats of course!) participated with the winning boat captain getting a 1675 Impact complete with Mercury motor and Shoreland'r trailer worth over $20,000. The second and third place captain also got smaller Lund boats as prizes.

Unfortunately, the team I was assigned to did not finish in the Top Ten. I still had a fabulous day out on Otter Tail Lake, wind and all! After all, a bad day of fishing is still better than a good day at work, right? Plus, I ended up winning a $100 gift certificate, hat and fishing towel from Gander Mountain. Thanks, Gander Mountain!

I will have more pictures of the post tournament fun on a future post.

Caution! Geese Crossing!

Okay, so they aren't in the official cross walk. I'm stopping! It was comical to watch them cross. The adult geese (more than just the two in the picture), were urging the young'uns across the street. Faster, faster they honked! If this doesn't qualify as a gaggle of geese, I don't know what will.

Barn Charm - Red, White & Blue

Red barn, white snow, blue silo.

It's gonna be close to 100 degrees here in the Methow Valley (in Washington state) today. Oh, what I wouldn't give for a bit a snow to help us all in the U.S. that are sweltering in the heat wave this week. Think cool, think snow. That snow would melt in a minute, however.

I also like the flag painted on the silo. Perfect for the upcoming Fourth of July celebrations.
