InSPIREd Sunday - Sts. Peter & Paul

I have so much to be thankful for. It has been another couple of fire-related stress-filled days here in Washington's Methow Valley. Yesterday, another significant fire started two miles from our house. Fortunately, the wind was blowing away from us but other homeowners were not so lucky. Then today, a thunderstorm rolled through our valley with lots of lightning and high winds which led to several downed trees and power outages. We were one of the homes that lost power but no damage from trees. Power returned just over an hour ago. The lightning did trigger several more fires to go with the ones already burning here. It has been a very bad fire season so far and we still have a few months to go. But enough fire updates (I promise to post pictures soon).

Today's InSPIREd Sunday church is Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, Minnesota. Again, the spire was spotted in the distance as I traveled down the country highway enroute to the airport in Minneapolis.

  1. A steeple standing above a small community is a wonderful welcoming sight. Tom The Backroads Traveller

  2. pretty and sturdy looking place. glad you are okay. i do hope you can get some real rain soon to help with the fire danger.

  3. Wishing you safety in this horrible fire season.

Love your pictures of the church which seems strangely alone and lonely.

  4. i love the cap - the spire. enjoy the far off shot ... you would never guess as fancy as it is - that it would be in such a tiny area ... where is the city? seems like it would be in a very busy city. ( :

  5. Interesting place - quite a fusion of styles. Glad to hear you're all OK and hope the danger passes ASAP; sounds awful.

  6. I find it comforting to spot a steeple, in a small community, standing tall above the trees. Thanks again for hosting.

  7. I love seeing those tall spires in the distance. It always makes me want to fin the church.
Glad to hear that the fire so close to you was blowing the other way. I hope the fire season ends soon there.

  8. Hard to miss that spire! Glad you had a chance to stop by with your camera!
