Watery Wednesday - Ice House City

This is very typical of the Lakes area in west central Minnesota this time of year. Lake after lake with ice houses on them for fishing. Sorry, I just can't see myself spending much time in one of these looking a hole cut in the ice waiting for the fish to bite much less driving my vehicle on the frozen lake.

Closer shot at Big Pine in the late afternoon

Linking to Watery Wednesday at Tricia's Bluff Area Daily. I am still catching up from last week's posts so bear with me. :-)

  2. It's very interesting for me to see water frozen this solidly. Nice series.

  3. Love the colors in the first shot! I'm with you about not wanting to sit on the ice waiting for a fish, much less driving on the ice. Some lakes have whole cities and they even name the streets. LOL

  4. I'm assuming that it's mostly men out there before I make this statement...MEN ARE CRAZY!!!! The extremes that they will go to for a fish or a deer....you can go buy fish at the store. lol I hope their truck never cracks the ice and sinks.

  5. Looks like a winter version of "guys go hunting" as a way to get out of the house, hang out and maybe tip a few. But what a cold way to do it. Wonder how many pickups are on the bottom of the lake. ;)

  6. Now that looks very cold. That ice has to be really really thick to get me out there. I saw them ice fishing on Moses Lake last year. MB

  7. I'll bet there is a copious amount of beer involved to "help stay warm!" LOL!!

  8. Bill's little sister lives in Bemedji and they just rave about how fun this stuff is. Not for us. (As I type and am reading the comment from Candy above, I'm pretty sure she's right!) Great pictures...even those are closer than I want to come.

  9. I have never ice-fished...but people do around here. Just never had the opportunity when I was younger, and don't think I could take the cold now.
