Enchanted Highway - Part 1

Here we were...cruising west along Interstate 94 in southwestern North Dakota, enjoying the scenery and almost to our day's destination, when suddenly a large object loomed on the horizon. "It's the Enchanted Highway," I said excitedly!

I knew a tiny bit about the highway from earlier reading but I didn't think we would be close enough to it to actually drive along it. For those who don't know, scattered alongside thirty miles of a quiet two-lane country "highway" are giant sculptures that make up the Enchanted Highway. One end point is the interstate and the other is the town of Regent, North Dakota.

We exited the interstate to look at the large sculpture that was next to the ramp. A quaint little dirt lane led you to a parking area to view the sculpture up close.

Getting a feel for the scale of the sculpture

After looking at the information board, realizing how long the highway was, and seeing what appeared to be another sculpture in the distance, we decided to go for it.

For the next several days, I will be showing the other sculptures so be sure to come back and visit!

  3. YAY! We drove this one year and I posted about it, but it was a while ago and I love seeing it again. Just an amazing bit of Americana and I loved it.
